New schedule of meeting and events

INVITATION!!!
Identity – workshop

Who are we? How are we changing in a foreign environment? What does national culture mean to us? We will try to address these and other questions within the workshop framework.
The workshop content:
1. Getting to know each other: from Ten Statement Test (TST) to identity expressed in photography.
2. Questioning our self-concepts: ascription and choice, individuality and socialization.
3. Discovering the looking-glass self: who are the Polish?
4. Questioning identities in the 21st century: “The Tribe” – a film.
5. Understanding nationality:  collages of national cultures .

The workshop is intended to introduce the concept of identity through interactive and creative practice not academic talk.  It does not require any background knowledge.
The language of the workshop is English.
Time: Thursday, May 15, 4 p.m.

Cuisine of Podlasie – culinary workshop
10 March 2008

A unique opportunity to learn, get to know each other and try regional dishes

The workshop takes place on Thursday, March 13. It will be supervised by Andrzej Fiedoruk, an expert in local cuisine (the author of “Kuchnia Podlaska” and “Bialostockie smaki” among other publications). We meet at 11 a.m. – students from The Technical University (Politechnika) at BETA Student House and students form the University of Bialystok at the Student House no. 1 on Zeromskiego street.

The workshop itself starts at noon at LECH Guest House on Elewatorska street (no. 12). It is planned in three steps:

Step 1: Introduction to the local cuisine (15 minutes)
 

Step 2: Preparation of the dishes (about 2 hours)

Working in three groups, we will be preparing:

Barszcz ukaiński (Ukrainian borsch)

Babka ziemniaczana (Potato cake)

Ciasteczka ze skwarek (Crackling cookies)


Step 3: Eating, taking, having fun (no time limit)
 

You do not have to bring anything with you. We provide all the products and facilities necessary.

The language of the workshop is English, however there will be people to help in communication as interpreters.
